tinka

It being a beautiful morning, Chang and I walked, rather than driving, to IHOP today. It was such a refreshing walk! We are trying to walk to local places more these days.

Anyway, we ordered our food and were waiting, when all of a sudden our waiting was interrupted by someone singing.....

Tinka tinka tinka tinka
ting - ka ting- ka...

I turned around (we were sitting near the entrance and it was a really small, rather cozy, IHOP) and there was this black lady singing... and marching to her singing... as she followed the hostess and her husband to her seat. At first I thought she was in a really good mood or something. She and her husband were obviously coming back from church. She wore a yellow and black tunic under a green parka, and her smiling head was decorated with a beautiful black hat decorated with white netting.

She sat down -- for a second... and then she stood up, went over to the table next to her, and started singing again... and she sang this song as she went around the whole restaurant, greeting people, shaking hands, smiling, singing and marching to her singing:

(With uncontrollable waver to her pitch - e.g. Beyonce)

[baritone] tinka tinka tinka tinka
[baritone] ting ka! ting ka!
[soprano] tinka tinka tinka tinka
[soprano] ting ka! tinga ka!

repeat

[reprisal] God~~ Bless ~~~ You child~~

[baritone] tinka tinka tinka tinka
[baritone] ting ka! ting ka!
[soprano] tinka tinka tinka tinka
[soprano] ting ka! tinga ka!

Then she got to the half way point, grabbed a bunch of napkins (the amount equivalent to the amount people usually grab at McDonalds to take home), and then on her way back to her seat (singing of course) she noticed me looking at her, and said:

Tinka lady: (flatly) You want some napkins?
Me: No
Tinka lady: (Soprano) Tinka tinka...

and marched back to her seat.

When we left IHOP and started walking back home, I started singing the damn song. Chang told me the lady gave her a headache.
